VANGUARD PRESENTS
NEW HARDCOVER

     SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST RELEASE

A handsome, new, full-color volume celebrating the life and work of Jim
Steranko, who has been called a “paragon of modern heroic mythology,”
is scheduled for release this summer by Vanguard Productions. Explosive
with art, graphics, and photos, the package incorporates illustrated
chapters of compelling autobiographical stories, historic
documentation, and revealing analytical insights about comics’ most
controversial artist-writer-performer, the man who has inspired
generations of creators, from Jack Kirby to Pulitzer-Prize winning
novelist Michael Chabon. Steranko is annotated by the artist and J.
David Spurlock, and includes a classic collaboration with legendary
author Harlan Ellison.

STERANKO is the largest and most comprehensive collection of the famed
graphic innovator's work since the 2002 instant-sell-out Steranko: Art
Noir, and is packed with new and rare art, spanning the full range of
his career—from comics to book covers, film production illustrations to
movie posters—many never before published or compiled in book form.

The hefty 8.5” x 11" volume features 128 pages of Steranko visual magic
in a high-quality, hardcover, printed on heavy enamal stock. The tome
is also available in a Deluxe Limited Edition housed in a leatherette,
crimson-foil embossed slipcased with 16-page Bonus Folio and signed by
Steranko.

CBG’s Millennium Poll ranked the Eisner Award Hall of Fame winner The
5th Most Important Cover Artist of All Time, while Wizard honored him
as The 5th Most Influential Comics Creator. As a musician, art
director, magician, photographer, fire-eater, designer, escape artist,
filmmaker, pop-culture lecturer, and publisher, Steranko has cut a
ferocious path through the entertainment arts. The innovations he
created as artist-writer on Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America, and
X-Men titles revolutionized the comics form and, as an illustrator, he
produced a multitude of paintings, including 30 Shadow book covers.

He has shown his work at more than 200 exhibitions worldwide, including
the Louvre, and his original art has sold at major auction houses in
the $10-30,000 range. His two volumes of THE HISTORY OF COMICS have
sold more than 100,000 copies and as the editor-publisher of the
international newsstand entertainment magazine PREVUE, he conducted
hundreds of superstar interviews and penned more than three million
words. As a filmmaker, he has collaborated with Steven Spielberg,
George Lucas, and Francis Ford Coppola on some of their most popular
movies.

STERANKO features a myriad of insights into his kaleidoscopic careers,
and is heavily illustrated with hundreds of images, including
visualizations of Indiana Jones, Nick Fury, The Shadow, Mike Hammer,
Silver Surfer, Sinbad, Fantastic Four, Mister Miracle, and many others..
